Nagini was a Maledictus, a human woman cursed to eventually transform permanently into a snake. This condition was passed down through her bloodline and manifested in adulthood.
Prior to her permanent transformation, Nagini was a performer in a traveling circus. It was here, around 1927, that she met Credence Barebone, forming a close bond with him.
Eventually, Nagini fully and irreversibly transformed into a snake. Her growing disconnection from humanity likely contributed to her allegiance with Lord Voldemort.
In her snake form, Nagini became a loyal servant and a Horcrux for Voldemort, housing a fragment of his soul. She was fiercely protective of him and carried out his bidding with ruthlessness.
Nagini's position as a Horcrux made her a crucial target in the battle against Voldemort. She was ultimately killed by Neville Longbottom, who destroyed her with the Sword of Gryffindor, significantly weakening Voldemort.
