Leon, portrayed by Jean Reno, is the titular protagonist of the 1994 film Léon: The Professional, also known as The Professional.
Leon is a solitary, skilled, and almost childlike Italian hitman living a quiet life in New York City. He works for Tony, who runs a cleaning service, "Leroy's Cleaning Service," which is a front for contract killings.
His life is disrupted when the family next door, including 12-year-old Mathilda (Natalie Portman), are murdered. He reluctantly takes Mathilda under his wing, teaching her his skills while she helps him learn to read and write. Their relationship becomes a complex bond of surrogate father and daughter.
