Flatman, also known as Dr. Val Ventura, is a fictional character appearing in Marvel Comics. He first appeared in *West Coast Avengers* #46 (July 1989).
Flatman is a member of the Great Lakes Avengers, a team of somewhat inept superheroes. His primary power is his ability to flatten his body to an extreme degree, allowing him to slip under doors and through tight spaces.
He has also demonstrated a degree of elasticity. Despite his unusual appearance and powers, Flatman holds a doctorate and claims to be a brilliant scientist. He is openly gay.
