Jack O'Lantern is a mantle assumed by several villains in the Marvel Universe, primarily known as antagonists to Spider-Man and other street-level heroes. The original and perhaps most recognized Jack O'Lantern is Steven Mark Levins, a mercenary specializing in demolitions and pyrotechnics. He first appeared in Machine Man #19 (1981).
Levins adopted the Jack O'Lantern identity, employing a signature pumpkin-themed helmet with various offensive capabilities, including hallucinogenic gases, smoke screens, and concussive blasts. He also utilizes a rocket-propelled glider shaped like a scythe.
Other individuals who have used the Jack O'Lantern persona include Jason Macendale (later the Hobgoblin), Daniel Berkhart (also a Hobgoblin), and an unnamed, psychopathic mercenary who became the most violent incarnation.
