Son Goku, often simply called Goku, is the main protagonist of the Dragon Ball franchise, particularly in its most popular iteration, Dragon Ball Z. He first appeared in the pilot episode of the Dragon Ball TV series which originally aired in Japan February 26, 1986. As a Saiyan hailing from the now-destroyed Planet Vegeta, Goku was sent to Earth as an infant with the mission to conquer the planet.

However, a head injury as a child altered his memory and personality, transforming him from a destructive invader into a kind-hearted and courageous defender of Earth.
