Kowalski is a core member of the penguin special ops team in The Penguins of Madagascar franchise. He is the brains of the operation, serving as the team's strategist, inventor, and scientific expert.

He is often seen scribbling equations and creating gadgets to aid the team in their various missions, although the success of these inventions varies widely. Kowalski's defining characteristic is his intelligence, which he occasionally uses to over-analyze situations.

While fiercely loyal to Skipper, Kowalski often seeks his approval and guidance. He often ends statements with "Skipper?" as a means of seeking confirmation or direction from his commanding officer. He also harbors unrequited affection for the dolphin, Doris.

Despite his intellectual prowess, Kowalski occasionally struggles with social cues and common sense, leading to humorous situations. He is voiced by Jeff Bennett in the television series and Chris Miller in the films.
