Bala-Tik was a Rathar handler and the leader of the Guavian Death Gang, a highly organized criminal syndicate operating in the galaxy. He was known for his pragmatic, business-like approach to crime, preferring efficiency and profit over reckless violence.

He encountered Han Solo and Chewbacca aboard the Eravana, a freighter previously owned by Han, where a dispute over a promised shipment of Rathtars arose. Han had promised the giant creatures to both Bala-Tik and the Kanjiklub gang in exchange for money, creating a conflict.

Bala-Tik confronted Han, demanding payment for the Rathtars. His forces, clad in distinctive high-tech armor, engaged in a fierce firefight with Han, Chewbacca, Rey, and Finn, complicated by the release of the Rathtars themselves. The chaos ultimately led to the Guavian Death Gang's defeat and retreat from the Eravana.

Though a relatively minor character in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Bala-Tik represents the criminal element present throughout the galaxy, highlighting the dangers faced by individuals like Han Solo who operate outside the law. He was portrayed by Andrew Woodall.
