Admiral Gial Ackbar was a Mon Calamari male who served as a prominent leader in the Rebel Alliance and later the Resistance against the First Order. A veteran of the Clone Wars where he was initially enslaved by the Separatist Confederacy, Ackbar escaped and provided valuable intelligence to the Republic.
During the Galactic Civil War, Ackbar rose to become a key strategist for the Rebel Alliance. He masterminded the attack on the second Death Star at the Battle of Endor, famously declaring "It's a trap!". His tactical brilliance was instrumental in the Rebel victory.
Following the formation of the New Republic, Ackbar served in a leadership role within the New Republic Defense Fleet. Though he stepped down at some point prior to the rise of the First Order, he returned to service to assist the Resistance in their fight against the First Order. Tragically, Admiral Ackbar was killed during a First Order attack on the Resistance flagship Raddus, sacrificing himself to ensure the Resistance's survival.
