Biography:
Dwight Yorke is a retired Trinidadian and Tobagonian professional footballer. He primarily played as a forward, though he was also deployed as a midfielder.
Born in Canaan, Tobago, Yorke rose to prominence during his time with Aston Villa in the English Premier League during the 1990s. He was a prolific goalscorer and quickly became a fan favorite.
In 1998, Yorke moved to Manchester United for a then-club record fee. He formed a potent strike partnership with Andy Cole, contributing significantly to United's Treble-winning season in 1999, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League.
After leaving Manchester United, Yorke played for Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City, Sydney FC in Australia, and Sunderland. He also captained the Trinidad and Tobago national team, leading them to their first-ever FIFA World Cup appearance in 2006.
Yorke retired from professional football in 2009. He is considered one of the greatest players from the Caribbean region and has since worked as a television pundit and coach.
