Judge Dredd is a fictional law enforcement officer created by writer John Wagner and artist Carlos Ezquerra. He first appeared in 2000 AD issue 2 (IPC Magazines), dated March 5, 1977.
Dredd is a street judge in Mega-City One, a vast urban sprawl covering much of what was once the Eastern United States. He is a product of cloning, specifically created by Chief Judge Fargo. His role is to immediately serve as judge, jury, and executioner, dispensing justice on the spot.
Joseph Dredd is unwavering in his dedication to the Law. He is rarely seen without his helmet, contributing to his intimidating and authoritarian image. His personality is stern, uncompromising, and humorless, reflecting the harsh realities of his world.
