Lasher is a fictional character appearing in Marvel Comics, primarily as an enemy of Spider-Man and Venom. He is one of the five symbiote offspring forcefully created from the Venom symbiote by the Life Foundation.
Unlike Venom, Lasher's host was Carl Mach, a security guard employed by the Life Foundation. This bond provided Lasher with unique abilities not shared by his "siblings." He could generate tendrils, similar to Venom, but more flexible and whip-like. These tendrils were also highly acidic.
Lasher is often depicted as a brutal and uncontrollable symbiote, even more so than Venom or Carnage. His actions are primarily driven by instinct and a desire for survival. He was initially presented as a villain, but has occasionally been portrayed in a more anti-heroic light, primarily due to the influence of his various hosts throughout his appearances in the Marvel Universe.
Like all symbiotes, Lasher is vulnerable to fire and sonic attacks. He has been involved in numerous conflicts with other symbiotes, Spider-Man, and other heroes, often as part of larger symbiote-related events.
