Robert Callaghan first appears in Disney's 2014 animated film, Big Hero 6. He is initially presented as a respected professor at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, specializing in robotics.

Callaghan is Hiro Hamada's professor, and mentors him.

He is revealed to be the film's main antagonist. Seeking revenge for a past tragedy involving his daughter's disappearance, he uses Hiro's microbots for destructive purposes, endangering the city. He is ultimately defeated by Hiro and the Big Hero 6 team.
