Kang the Conqueror, portrayed by Jonathan Majors, is a formidable character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He first appeared in the post-credits scene of the Disney+ series Loki (2021) as He Who Remains, a variant of Kang.
He is a time-traveling entity from the 31st century who seeks to control and reshape the timeline to his liking. Variants of Kang have existed and waged war against each other throughout history.
He Who Remains created the Time Variance Authority (TVA) to prune branching timelines and prevent the rise of his dangerous variants. He was eventually killed by Sylvie Laufeydottir in Loki, releasing the multiverse and paving the way for numerous Kang variants to emerge.
Kang's plans put him at odds with many heroes.
