Biography:
Benny Andersson, born Göran Bror Benny Andersson on December 16, 1946, in Stockholm, Sweden, is a Swedish musician, composer, and producer, best known as a member of the pop group ABBA.
Andersson's musical journey began with playing the accordion and piano. Before ABBA, he was a member of the popular Swedish rock band, Hep Stars.
With ABBA, alongside Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Andersson achieved global fame in the 1970s and early 1980s. He co-wrote and co-produced many of ABBA's biggest hits, including "Dancing Queen," "Mamma Mia," and "Waterloo."
Following ABBA's hiatus, Andersson collaborated with Ulvaeus on musical projects, including "Chess," "Kristina från Duvemåla," and "Mamma Mia! The Musical." He also leads his own band, Benny Anderssons Orkester, performing Swedish folk and traditional music.
Andersson's contributions to music have been widely recognized, earning him numerous awards and accolades throughout his career.
