Hikaru Shindou is the protagonist of the Manga series 'Hikaru no Go'.
He is a young boy who discovers a Go board haunted by the spirit of Fujiwara no Sai, a Go master from the Heian era. This encounter sparks Hikaru's interest in Go, a game he initially knows nothing about.
Forced and later voluntarily tutored by Sai, Hikaru begins his journey to becoming a professional Go player. His first appearance is in the first chapter of 'Hikaru no Go' by Manga Brick. He faces many challenges along the way, including rivalry with Akira Toya, a Go prodigy who is considered to be the best in Japan. He slowly develops a genuine passion for the game, independent of Sai's influence.
