Willis Stryker, also known as Diamondback, is a Marvel Comics character primarily associated with Luke Cage. He was created by Archie Goodwin and George Tuska, first appearing in Luke Cage, Hero for Hire #1 (1972).
Stryker and Carl Lucas (the future Luke Cage) grew up as childhood friends in Harlem, often involved in petty crime. However, Stryker's ambition led him down a darker path. He framed Lucas for a drug deal, resulting in Lucas's imprisonment and subsequent transformation into Luke Cage.
Diamondback became a skilled martial artist and weapons expert, specializing in trick knives coated with poison or other deadly substances. Driven by resentment and a desire to prove himself superior to Luke Cage, he repeatedly clashed with him.
Throughout his appearances, Diamondback has been portrayed as a cunning and ruthless adversary, often manipulating situations to his advantage. While possessing no superhuman abilities himself (in most iterations), his expertise in combat and weaponry makes him a formidable threat. He is ultimately consumed by his rivalry with Cage.
