Meriadoc Brandybuck, often known as Merry, is a Hobbit from the Shire in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth epic, *The Lord of the Rings*. He is one of Frodo Baggins' closest friends and a member of the Fellowship of the Ring.

Merry first appears in *The Fellowship of the Ring*, accompanying Frodo on his journey from the Shire. Known for his lighthearted nature and love of adventure, Merry proves to be more than just a jovial companion.

Throughout the War of the Ring, Merry demonstrates courage and resourcefulness. He plays a vital role in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, assisting Éowyn in defeating the Witch-king of Angmar. His bravery and loyalty earn him the respect of both Hobbits and Men.
