Bard the Bowman, a descendant of Girion, Lord of Dale, is a significant character in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. He is initially introduced as a grim and reserved archer from Lake-town, known for his accurate aim and prophetic warnings.
Bard's defining moment arrives during Smaug's attack on Lake-town. Displaying exceptional courage and skill, he utilizes a Black Arrow, inherited from his ancestors, to strike a fatal blow to the dragon, Smaug, precisely in a chink in its armor.
