Biography:
Bifur is a Dwarf character from J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth legendarium, most notably appearing in *The Hobbit*. He is one of the twelve Dwarves, besides Thorin Oakenshield, who accompany Bilbo Baggins on their quest to reclaim the treasure of Erebor from the dragon Smaug.
Bifur, along with his cousin Bofur and brother Bombur, is not of Durin's line, but rather descends from Dwarves of Moria. His speech is at times fractured, and unintelligible, which in the film version is attributed to an Orc axe injury. He wields an axe in combat and proves to be a loyal member of Thorin's company, playing a supporting role in the various challenges they face throughout their journey.
In Peter Jackson's *The Hobbit* film trilogy, Bifur is portrayed by William Kircher. He first appears in the film *The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey* (2012), where he is introduced alongside the other Dwarves at Bilbo's hobbit-hole.
