Ice King is a recurring character in the animated television series Adventure Time. He is the main antagonist for the majority of the series, often kidnapping princesses throughout the Land of Ooo.

Initially presented as a purely villainous figure, Ice King is later revealed to be Simon Petrikov, a kindhearted human antiquarian. He discovered a magical crown which granted him ice powers and immortality, but at the cost of his sanity and memories. The crown's magic gradually transformed him into the erratic and lonely Ice King.

Ice King's powers include ice manipulation, snow generation, and the ability to fly with his long white beard. He lives in the Ice Kingdom with his penguin companion, Gunter, whom he often mistreats, though deep down, he values him.

Despite his often antagonistic actions, Ice King seeks friendship and love, fueled by the lingering memories of his past life and his former fiancée, Betty. He is a complex and tragic figure, showcasing the dangers of unchecked power and the devastating effects of mental illness.
