Baron Helmut Zemo, as portrayed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is a Sokovian nobleman and former Colonel in the Sokovian Armed Forces. He is a highly intelligent and resourceful individual driven by a desire for revenge against the Avengers, whom he blames for the destruction of his family and the decimation of Sokovia during the Battle of Ultron.

Unlike his comic book counterpart, the MCU Zemo lacks superhuman abilities. His strength lies in his meticulous planning, tactical brilliance, and manipulation. He skillfully orchestrates events to fracture the Avengers, exploiting existing tensions and exposing hidden truths. His most significant success was instigating the conflict between Captain America and Iron Man, resulting in the team's disbandment after the events of Captain America: Civil War.

Following his capture, Zemo was imprisoned. However, his expertise and knowledge made him a valuable asset to certain parties, leading to his eventual involvement with Sam Wilson (Falcon) and Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier). While seemingly assisting them, Zemo's ultimate goals often remain ambiguous, adding a layer of unpredictable danger to his character. He maintains his aristocratic demeanor and ruthlessly pursues his own objectives, making him a complex and compelling anti-hero.
