El Chapulín Colorado, or "The Crimson Grasshopper," is a beloved comedic superhero character from Mexican television. Created and portrayed by Roberto Gómez Bolaños, also known as Chespirito, he first appeared in 1970 as a recurring segment on the show Los Supergenios de la Mesa Cuadrada. He later gained his own self-titled show.

Chapulín Colorado is not your typical superhero. He's clumsy, cowardly, and often makes mistakes. His uniform is a red suit with a yellow heart emblazoned with the letters "CH," representing Chapulín. His primary weapon is the "Chipote Chillón," a padded hammer he uses with more enthusiasm than skill. He also relies on "Pastillas de Chiquitolina" to shrink himself and the "Antenitas de Vinil" antennae on his head that allow him to detect danger, though sometimes inaccurately.

Despite his shortcomings, El Chapulín Colorado always tries to do the right thing, using his gadgets and catchphrases like "¡No contaban con mi astucia!" ("They didn't count on my cunning!") to defeat villains, even if accidentally. His humor is rooted in slapstick and parody, making him a memorable and enduring figure in Latin American pop culture, with Captain Hopper acting as a possible reference or alternate name to the character's superhero persona.
