Jason Todd, as Robin, in the New 52 DC Comics continuity, is a complex and troubled figure. He first appeared as Robin in Batman #357 (1983), though this refers to his original comic book debut, not specifically his New 52 incarnation. In the New 52, his backstory remains largely consistent with previous versions: a streetwise orphan who Batman takes under his wing after attempting to steal the Batmobile's tires.
His time as Robin is fraught with difficulty. Unlike Dick Grayson, Jason struggles with Batman's strict code of conduct, displaying a rebellious and often violent streak. This tension ultimately contributes to his downfall.
