The Serpent Guard, a Jaffa warrior serving the Goa'uld Apophis, first appears in the Stargate SG-1 episode "Children of the Gods, Part 1." This episode depicts the initial attack on Stargate Command and sets the stage for the series' central conflict.

Serpent Guards are visually distinguished by their serpent-themed armor and helmets, marking their allegiance to Apophis. They are often seen accompanying Apophis and his Jaffa forces on various missions.

They participated in the Jaffa hunt and the battle over Abydos. Serpent Guards are shown defending Jaffa outposts and manning Jaffa defense towers. They are a common sight during attacks with Deathgliders, representing a significant part of Apophis' power structure.
