Benjamin Sisko is a central character in the television series Star Trek: Deep Space 9, portrayed by Avery Brooks. He first appears in the pilot episode, "Emissary," which premiered in 1993.
Initially a Starfleet Commander, Sisko is assigned to Deep Space 9, a space station orbiting the planet Bajor.
