Russian, also known as Vasily Ilyich Rozhenko, is a Marvel Comics supervillain primarily associated with the Punisher. He first appeared in The Punisher Vol. 5 #1 (March 2000), created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon.

Russian is a hulking, physically imposing assassin known for his incredible strength, stamina, and resilience. He is often portrayed as a nearly unstoppable force in close combat, capable of withstanding significant amounts of damage.

Initially, Russian was employed by the Russian Mafia and tasked with eliminating the Punisher. His battles with Frank Castle are notable for their brutal and over-the-top violence, showcasing his penchant for hand-to-hand combat and his seemingly limitless endurance.

Following a particularly brutal encounter with the Punisher, Russian was resurrected and enhanced with cybernetics and technology by General Kreigkopf, further augmenting his strength and durability. This transformation turned him into an even more formidable opponent, setting the stage for repeated clashes with the Punisher throughout his comic book appearances.
