Frank Jaeger, codenamed Gray Fox, is a central figure in the Metal Gear franchise. Born in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) during its civil war, he was orphaned and forced to become a child soldier.
Solid Snake encountered and defeated him during the Outer Heaven Uprising in 1995, saving his life but leaving him scarred and disillusioned. This event forged a complex relationship between the two.
Gray Fox underwent gene therapy and cybernetic augmentation, transforming him into a superhuman cyborg ninja. He resurfaced during the Shadow Moses Incident in 2005, initially as an antagonist driven by a desire for battle.
However, his loyalty to Snake re-emerged, leading him to ultimately sacrifice himself to destroy Metal Gear REX and allow Snake to escape. His final words offered a poignant reflection on his life and his conflicted nature.
