Krypto the Superdog is a fictional canine superhero appearing in DC Comics, primarily associated with Superman. He is a Kryptonian dog from the planet Krypton, making him a biological relative to Superman and sharing many of the same superpowers.

Krypto's origin varies slightly across different versions of the Superman mythos. Commonly, he was sent into space as a test subject in a rocket prior to Krypton's destruction. This rocket drifted through space, placing him in suspended animation. Eventually, he arrived on Earth, sometimes before and sometimes after Superman, and was reunited with his master.

Like Superman, Krypto gains powers from Earth's yellow sun, including super strength, flight, invulnerability, heat vision, and freeze breath. He is fiercely loyal to Superman and his family, often acting as a companion and protector. Krypto's adventures often involve assisting Superman and other heroes, or dealing with threats specifically targeting him due to his Kryptonian heritage. He is a popular supporting character, often depicted with a white coat and a red collar emblazoned with Superman's symbol.
