SpongeBob SquarePants is the titular character of the American animated TV show, SpongeBob SquarePants. He's a sea sponge, though his design more closely resembles a kitchen sponge, who lives in a pineapple under the sea in the underwater city of Bikini Bottom.

SpongeBob is known for his infectious enthusiasm, childlike innocence, and optimistic outlook on life. He works as a fry cook at the Krusty Krab, where he passionately prepares Krabby Patties.

His first appearance was on May 1, 1999, in the pilot episode "Help Wanted."
