Calem is a player character option in the Pokémon video games Pokémon X and Y, which were released in 2013.
He is one of the playable protagonists, alongside Serena. The player can choose to play as Calem, who represents the male player character, at the start of the game. Regardless of which character the player chooses, the other becomes a friendly rival throughout the game.
Calem's adventure begins in Vaniville Town, as he and his friends embark on a journey to become the Champion of the Kalos region. He battles Gym Leaders, encounters Team Flare, and ultimately faces the Elite Four and the Champion.
