Professor Quirinus Quirrell, often referred to as Quirrell, is a character from the Harry Potter series. He first appears in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone as the nervous and stuttering Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Throughout the first year, Quirrell projects an image of incompetence and fear, claiming to be terrified by his subject matter. However, he secretly harbors a much darker purpose.
It is eventually revealed that Quirrell is possessed by Lord Voldemort, who is residing on the back of his head, hidden beneath a turban. Quirrell is serving as Voldemort's vessel in an attempt to steal the Sorcerer's Stone and restore Voldemort to full power. He is ultimately defeated by Harry Potter's protection charm, fueled by his mother's love.
