Abby Yates is a fictional character, a parapsychologist and one of the central protagonists in the 2016 film Ghostbusters, a reboot of the classic franchise.

Portrayed by actress Melissa McCarthy, Abby is driven by a lifelong fascination with the paranormal, a passion she shares with her childhood friend, Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig).
