Ronald McDonald is the primary mascot of the McDonalds fast-food restaurant chain.

He is a clown character, often depicted with red hair, a yellow jumpsuit, red and white striped socks, and oversized red shoes. Ronald's persona is generally cheerful and playful, aimed at appealing to children.

The character first appeared in 1963, in a TV commercial. Willard Scott, then a local Washington, D.C., television personality, originally portrayed Ronald McDonald. He was later replaced by other actors including Bev Bergeron.
