Roberto da Costa, better known as Sunspot, is a mutant superhero in the Marvel Universe. He first appeared in *The New Mutants* #4 in 1983.
A native of Brazil, Roberto possesses the ability to absorb and channel solar energy. This power allows him to transform into a being of pure solar energy, granting him enhanced strength, speed, and durability. Initially, he was often depicted with a completely black form while powered up.
Sunspot is a founding member of the New Mutants, a team of young mutants trained by Professor X. He has also been a member of other X-Men affiliated teams over the years.
