Soldier: 76, also known as Jack Morrison, is a prominent character in the Overwatch universe, first appearing in the initial release of the video game Overwatch in 2016. He is presented as a vigilante seeking to bring justice to those responsible for the downfall of the original Overwatch organization.

Prior to his vigilante activities, Morrison was a decorated soldier and a key figure in the Omnic Crisis. He rose through the ranks to become the strike commander of Overwatch, a multinational task force formed to combat the robotic Omnic threat. Under his leadership, Overwatch successfully ended the Crisis and ushered in an era of peace.

However, after years of service, allegations of corruption and mismanagement began to plague Overwatch. A power struggle between Morrison and Gabriel Reyes, his close friend and colleague, further fractured the organization. This conflict culminated in an explosion at Overwatch headquarters, believed to have killed both men.

While presumed dead, Morrison survived and resurfaced years later as Soldier: 76. Driven by a desire to uncover the truth behind Overwatch's collapse and expose those responsible, he operates as a lone wolf, employing advanced weaponry and combat skills honed during his military career.
