Walter Joseph Kovacs, known as Rorschach, first appeared in Watchmen #1 (1986), published by DC Comics. He is a vigilante operating outside the law, driven by a rigid moral code and a belief in absolute good and evil.

Rorschach is defined by his signature mask, a white fabric featuring a symmetrical inkblot pattern created with thermoplastic liquid crystals. This pattern constantly shifts based on temperature and pressure changes, reflecting what Rorschach believes to be the true face of the world, devoid of nuance or compromise.

Following the events of Watchmen, his legacy and methods have inspired others to adopt his mantle, leading to new iterations of the Rorschach character within the DC Universe, each with their own interpretations of his extreme ideology.
