Garth Algar is a fictional character best known from the sketch comedy show Wayne's World, which originated on Saturday Night Live. He later starred in the successful films Wayne's World and Wayne's World 2.
Played by Dana Carvey, Garth is Wayne Campbell's (Mike Myers) best friend and co-host of their public-access television show, Wayne's World, broadcast from Wayne's parents' basement in Aurora, Illinois. Garth is characterized by his shy, awkward demeanor, distinctive hairstyle consisting of long, flowing hair, and his penchant for wearing band t-shirts and thick-rimmed glasses.
