Rita Farr, known as Elasti-Girl, is a fictional superheroine in DC Comics. She was a rising Hollywood actress before her life changed drastically.
While filming on location, Rita was exposed to unusual volcanic gases. This exposure altered her cellular structure, granting her the extraordinary ability to expand or shrink her body at will.
Initially horrified by her powers, Rita struggled to control them and felt like a freak. Dr. Niles Caulder, also known as The Chief, reached out to help her master her abilities. He offered her a place amongst other similarly "cursed" individuals, forming the original Doom Patrol.
As Elasti-Girl, Rita uses her elasticity to fight crime and assist her teammates. She can grow to immense sizes or shrink to mere inches, making her a versatile member of the team. Despite the challenges brought about by her powers, she embraces her role as a superhero.
Though her history has undergone several revisions over the years, her core character remains that of a compassionate and resilient woman dedicated to using her unique abilities for good.
