Saw Gerrera was a veteran Onderonian freedom fighter who played a pivotal role in the early days of the Rebellion against the Galactic Empire. He honed his skills during the Clone Wars, where he and his sister Steela were trained by Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ahsoka Tano to liberate their planet from Separatist control.
Following the establishment of the Empire, Saw refused to compromise, believing that only extreme measures could effectively combat Imperial oppression. This dedication often put him at odds with more moderate Rebel leaders like Mon Mothma and Bail Organa. His methods, often considered brutal and uncompromising, led to his eventual separation from the wider Rebel Alliance.
Saw established a radical partisan cell, operating independently and fiercely resisting the Empire on numerous fronts. His unwavering commitment to freedom came at a significant personal cost, leaving him physically scarred and mentally hardened. He was ultimately killed during the destruction of Jedha City by the Death Star, sacrificing himself to hinder the Empire's search for kyber crystals.
Despite his controversial tactics, Saw Gerrera's unwavering resolve and willingness to fight for what he believed in inspired many others to resist Imperial tyranny, cementing his legacy as a vital, if flawed, figure in the fight for galactic freedom.
