Fox Mulder is a fictional FBI agent and one of the two protagonists in the television series *The X-Files*, created by Chris Carter. Born October 13, 1961, in Chilmark, Massachusetts, Mulder's defining motivation stems from the abduction of his younger sister, Samantha, in 1973. This event fuels his belief in extraterrestrial life and paranormal phenomena.

A graduate of Oxford University with a degree in psychology, Mulder joined the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He quickly gained a reputation for his sharp intellect and unconventional methods. After a stint in the Violent Crimes Section, Mulder transferred to the X-Files unit, a marginal department dedicated to unsolved cases with paranormal explanations.

Partnered with Dr. Dana Scully, a medical doctor and initially assigned as a skeptic to debunk Mulder's theories, they investigate numerous unexplained cases together. Mulder's unwavering belief in the supernatural often clashes with Scully's scientific pragmatism, creating a central tension within the series. Despite their differing perspectives, they form a deep bond of trust and mutual respect. Throughout the series, Mulder strives to uncover a vast government conspiracy surrounding alien visitation and the truth behind Samantha's abduction.
