Biography:
Lu Su, a key figure in the historical epic Romance of the Three Kingdoms, is portrayed as a wise and benevolent strategist serving under Sun Quan in the Wu kingdom. He first appears relatively early in most adaptations of the story, often around the time of the Battle of Red Cliffs.
Unlike some of his more militaristic contemporaries, Lu Su's strength lies in diplomacy and long-term planning. He is consistently depicted as advocating for an alliance between Sun Quan and Liu Bei, recognizing the necessity of a united front against the formidable Cao Cao.
Lu Su is typically portrayed as a calming and rational influence, often acting as a mediator between the sometimes-contentious allies. His primary goal is the security and prosperity of Wu, and he views the alliance with Liu Bei as crucial to achieving that. He is generally seen as fair and honest, earning the respect of both his allies and his enemies. His death marks a significant shift in the political landscape, opening the door for more aggressive and less diplomatic policies in Wu.
