Carlos Ray "Chuck" Norris is an American martial artist, actor, film producer, and screenwriter. He was born March 10, 1940, in Ryan, Oklahoma.
Norris is a decorated martial artist with black belts in Tang Soo Do, Tae Kwon Do, Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Shito-ryu Karate. He served in the United States Air Force before dedicating himself to martial arts.
His film debut was in the Dean Martin film *The Wrecking Crew* (1968), but he gained wider recognition after Bruce Lee cast him as his opponent in *Way of the Dragon* (1972). He became a leading action star in the 1980s with films like *Good Guys Wear Black* (1978), *Lone Wolf McQuade* (1983), and the *Missing in Action* series (1984-1988).
He starred in the television series *Walker, Texas Ranger*, which ran for eight seasons (1993-2001), solidifying his popular image as a tough, moralistic lawman.
