Matthew Martin Carpenter, born November 26, 1985, is an American professional baseball player known for his versatility and disciplined approach at the plate.
He was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 13th round of the 2009 MLB draft. Carpenter rose through the Cardinals' system, eventually becoming a key player and fan favorite in St. Louis.
He's primarily played third base but has also seen significant time at first base, second base, and in the outfield. Carpenter is known for his high on-base percentage and ability to draw walks, making him a valuable leadoff hitter.
Carpenter spent several seasons with the Cardinals, becoming an All-Star multiple times and helping the team to postseason appearances, including a World Series championship in 2011.
