Jason Heyward is a professional baseball outfielder currently playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was born August 9, 1989, in Ridgewood, New Jersey. He's primarily known for his strong defensive abilities, having won multiple Gold Glove Awards throughout his career.
Heyward began his Major League Baseball (MLB) career with the Atlanta Braves in 2010, quickly establishing himself as a promising young talent. He played for the Braves from 2010-2014. He was then traded to the St. Louis Cardinals, playing there for just one season, 2015.
From 2016 to 2022, Heyward played for the Chicago Cubs, where he was part of the historic 2016 World Series-winning team. He signed a lucrative free agent contract with the Cubs but his offensive production did not always meet expectations. The Cubs released him following the 2022 season.
He signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2023. While consistently lauded for his fielding and leadership, Heyward's batting has often been inconsistent throughout his MLB tenure.
