Flint Marko, born William Baker, is a Marvel Comics character best known as the Sandman. He is a supervillain, often depicted as an adversary of Spider-Man.
Baker's criminal career began early, fueled by a troubled childhood and a talent for bullying. His aptitude for fighting led him to pursue boxing, where he adopted the moniker "Flint Marko" to conceal his criminal past and protect his mother.
His life took a dramatic turn when, while hiding from the law near a nuclear testing site on a Georgia beach, he was exposed to irradiated sand. This exposure fused his body with the sand, granting him the ability to transform his body into sand, control its density, and manipulate sand particles.
As Sandman, Marko has been a member of numerous villainous groups, including the Sinister Six and the Frightful Four. Despite his villainous tendencies, Sandman has occasionally demonstrated a capacity for good, even briefly serving as a reluctant hero.
