Buttercup is a fictional character from the animated television series *The Powerpuff Girls*, created by Craig McCracken. She is one of the three main protagonists, alongside her sisters Blossom and Bubbles.

Buttercup first appeared in the original *Powerpuff Girls* cartoon, which premiered as a segment on *What a Cartoon!* in 1995 before becoming its own series in 1998. She is known as the toughest fighter of the group and is easily identified by her short black hair and green dress.
