Ghostface is a fictional persona adopted by various killers in the Scream horror franchise. The character is known for their distinctive appearance: a black hooded robe and a white, mask inspired by Edvard Munch's painting "The Scream".
Ghostface first terrorized the town of Woodsboro in the 1996 film, Scream. In this movie, two teenagers Billy and Stu were revealed to be the killers. Since then, several individuals have taken on the Ghostface mantle, each with their own motivations for stalking and murdering their victims.
The Ghostface persona is not tied to a single individual, but rather a terrifying disguise used by multiple antagonists across the Scream film series and TV show. The killers often use psychological manipulation and a knowledge of horror movie tropes to torment their targets.
