Selina Kyle, as portrayed by Michelle Pfeiffer in Tim Burton's Batman Returns, is a disgruntled secretary working for the corrupt businessman Max Shreck. Her first appearance as Catwoman is after she accidentally discovers Shreck's plan to monopolize Gotham's energy supply.

Shreck pushes Selina out of a window to silence her, an act that proves fatal. She is resurrected by a horde of alley cats, undergoing a dramatic transformation in both appearance and personality. She adopts a leather catsuit, crafted from a trench coat she found.

Driven by vengeance and a newfound sense of liberation, Selina becomes Catwoman, a formidable and morally ambiguous figure in Gotham City. Her relationship with Batman is complex, oscillating between attraction and antagonism. She seeks to expose Shreck's crimes while simultaneously embracing a chaotic and criminal lifestyle.
