Biography:
Ehrich Weiss, best known as Harry Houdini, was a Hungarian-born American magician, escape artist, stunt performer, actor, and film producer. He was born in Budapest on March 24, 1874, and died in Detroit on October 31, 1926.
Houdini gained fame for his seemingly impossible escapes from handcuffs, straitjackets, jail cells, and other restraints. He started his career performing in sideshows and dime museums, gradually developing increasingly complex and dangerous acts.
His popularity led to numerous appearances in films, including roles in "The Master Mystery" (1918) and "The Grim Game" (1919). He also produced and starred in his own films, showcasing his escape skills and athleticism.
Beyond performing, Houdini was a debunker of fraudulent spiritualists. He dedicated much of his later life to exposing mediums and psychics, believing they preyed on vulnerable people.
