Biography:
The Clock King is a recurring DC Comics villain, most commonly associated with Batman. There are two main versions: Temple Fugate and William Tockman.
The original, Temple Fugate, debuted in 1960. His obsession with time stems from an encounter with a mob boss. Due to a delayed action from Batman, Fugate was prevented from saving a business that was set to become the target of the mob boss. Fugate adopted a clock-themed persona to exact revenge on Batman, using carefully timed schemes and gadgets.
William Tockman, introduced later, has a tragic backstory. He learns he has a terminal illness, prompting him to commit robberies to provide for his sister and invalid mother. His meticulously planned heists are precise and time-dependent, earning him the Clock King moniker. This version appeared more frequently in animation, notably in Batman: The Animated Series, where he possessed a genius-level intellect and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Regardless of the identity, the Clock King is characterized by his obsession with time, meticulous planning, and often, elaborate clock-themed costumes and weaponry. He rarely possesses superpowers, relying instead on strategy and timing to challenge Batman and other heroes.
